The University of Florence (U-F) carried out a survey on 800 female between 18 and 50, who were asked to rate their sexual pleasure and satisfaction using the FSFI (Female Sexual Function Index). The FSFI helps doctors evaluating women’s sexual health. The evaluation is based on some factors such as arousal, orgasm, satisfaction and pain. It measures on a scale of 2 to 36 and ‘the higher the score the better the sexual health’.

Co-authored of the study, Nicola Mondaini said ‘historically, the aspects of wine and sexuality have been well known since the time of ancient Greece’. U-F statement said participants who drank two glasses of wine each day scored an average of 27.3 while who took a glass daily scored 25.9. On the other hand, non-drinkers average scored was 24.4.

On the other hand, among sexually inactive participants in the entire group, 39% thought the most ordinary reason was a lack of interest in sex, while 36% reported lack of a partner, 23% cited physical problems of their partner and 11% said a partner’s lack of interest. Only 9% of them reported being sexually inactive due to personal physical problems.

African-US women were more likely than white ones to report at least moderate desire, though less likely to get weekly sexual activity. The study revealed sexually active Latin women were more likely than white ones to get at least moderate sexual satisfaction. The research conducted by University of California-San Francisco and published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.

A man who made the 911 call said that he had positioned a sex toy over a saber saw blade, and after that used the power tool on his partner, but the sharp edge cut through the synthetic and injured the woman.
